Entering Billing Data

Next, input the billing history. You can cut-and-paste monthly billing data from another application.

Take a look at how we use the billing data. The tool looks at the meter reading dates and normalizes for the number of days in that metering period. We also normalize for size of the building so that different buildings can be compared together.

The tool also checks the meter read date against a weather file and determines the average temperature for that same metering interval. You can easily run from local weather!

Sometimes you know that a particular month is an outlier -- perhaps tenants were moving or the operation was atypical for some reason. If you enter a "0" in the "Accept Code" column that data point will be rejected from subsequent calculations.
